5 Daily Practices that are Essential for Mental Wellness

BASIC SELF-CARE NEEDS

Consider engaging in these self-care exercises daily to positively impact your mental health and help decrease symptoms of anxiety, stress, and depression.

  1. Eat healthy foods. Do not deprive your mind and body of nutrients. When we do not feed our brains, we cannot process thoughts and emotions well.

  2. Drink more water. The brain and body needs at least 64oz of water each day to think and behave well. Caffeine can intensify anxiety, so consider replacing a caffeinated beverage with water.

  3. Sleep 6-8 hours consistently each day. Too much or too little sleep can negatively impact our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors.

  4. Exercise is essential to decreasing anxiety and depressive symptoms and our improving our overall mental health. Consider moving your body for 10-30 minutes per day.

  5. Create or engage in creation. It is vital to our heart and soul. We are made in the image of The Creator, therefore we are designed to be creators and to enjoy His creation.
